Obesity surgery can be applied to people with a high body mass index and weight that causes diseases. The aim is to ensure that the person returns to normal weight. Since weight loss will occur after the surgery, diseases may decrease or even disappear. Obesity surgeries are performed under certain conditions. These conditions are listed below:
- People whose body mass index exceeds forty
- Obesity-related diseases becoming dangerous
- Having obesity disease that does not decrease with treatment and at the same time the patient cannot lose weight with diets
- No hormonal disorders
- No alcohol and smoking
Obesity Treatment
Treatments for obesity vary according to the needs of the patient. Generally, three methods are used. These are restrictive, nutrient-absorptive and both restrictive and nutrient-absorptive surgeries. Today, gastric balloon surgery is one of the most common obesity treatment methods. In addition, surgical operations and drug treatments can also be applied.
